This is an initial checklist for a temporary resident (visitor) visa application. We may request additional documents based on the need for your application and current requirements.

Standard Documents

Valid Passport – all biography, signature pages and pages with any visa and stamps (if applicable)

Complete the Applicant Details Form at YCI.co website
Complete the Family Information Form at YCI.co website
Representative Submission Letter (to be provided by YCI before submission)
Use of Representative Form IMM5476 (to be provided by YCI before submission)
Marriage licence/certificate or Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (if applicable)
Travel History (if applicable, such as boarding passes)
Educational documents – all mark sheets, certificates and achievements since 10th grade

Employment Documents

Applicable if you have employment history. Please share as many as you have. The list is broad to cover common scenarios.

Leave of Absence
Promotion Confirmation Letters
Salary Slips past 6 months (if currently employed)
Current Resume
Letter from employer confirming position, salary and length of employment and/ or employment contract. (If currently employed)

Financial Documents

You can include financial documents for both the applicant and dependents regardless if dependents are applying together or not. For example, if you have married and have savings and income under spouse name, savings in children's name, you can include all those too.

Account Statements for 6 months
Investments like Fixed Deposits (FDs), Bonds, Stocks
Savings and Investments in Children’s Name (if applicable)
$10,000 (minimum) GIC (if applicable), required under SDS program
Rental Income Proof (if applicable)
Income Tax Filing Documents (3 years recommended)
Net Worth Certificate
Property Valuation (Not applicable if obtaining a net worth certificate)

Financial Sponsor Documents

Example parents, siblings or in-laws, if they are financially supporting you for this application.

Gift Deed or Financial Support Affidavit
Bank Statements
Investments like Fixed Deposits (FDs), Bonds, Stocks
Proof of funds transfer if funds are already transferred to Applicant's or Dependent's account
Net Worth Certificate (for parents/in-laws it can be joint with the Applicant)
Proof of Relationship

Purpose of Visit

Invitation letter from the host in Canada
Conference schedule, registration and hotel booking (if coming for an event)
Travel itinerary (if coming for tourism)
Exam registration and confirmed exam date (if coming to write an exam)
Cover letter from the applicant outlining their travel plans, purpose and reasons to return (ties of home county)
Confirmed return flight tickets (if already booked)
Other documents supporting your need to be physically in Canada for this visit

Dependent Children

Definition of Dependent Child under section 2 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations:
(i) is less than 22 years of age and is not a spouse or common-law partner, or
(ii) is 22 years of age or older and has depended substantially on the financial support of the parent since before attaining the age of 22 years and is unable to be financially self-supporting due to a physical or mental condition.
